Shiva the Creator, Shiva the Destroyer

Shiva the creator, Shiva the destroyer.

India my nature,

America my nurturer

A battle of two species

Two worlds that deployed her

Shiva the creator, Shiva the destroyer.

It is my culture which gave me my name

While defining it through shame

While simultaneously teaching me how to take away the blame

Two distinctly sized shoes

Both which I call my own

India my soul

America my mental dome.

Finding my own pieces

It can feel too easy to feel alone

Connecting my mind and soul

Yearning for this understanding of a home

But never failing to be spiced

By the flavors which ignite my spirit

A country I reach out to claim

After years of going nowhere near it.

Shiva my creator, Shiva my destroyer.

Shiva my creator

India always my maker

Two worlds battle within

But nothing aims to break her

Solace is always found

In the interconnected web of mother nature

The hum of letting in

The rhythmic polarity of an omnipresent blend

An obligatory pause

To recenter, let go, and truly surrender

To the peace from the battle within her

Allowing Shiva to destroy,

Dismantle,

Reintegrate,

And then create.
