It’s one thing to be aware of your potential and the powerhouse that is you, and it’s another thing to allow yourself to embrace it and live in that freedom.

The process of creating is a tool for transmutation, but because there may also be this component that propels us into places of layered emotional states and enticingly abhorrent unknowns, the mind rejects the full capacity of artistry. It’s demanding, but not forceful. There’s an equal amount of safety and trust within our own being that is required to explore, but most of us haven’t tasted true permission to access and accept our full selves at that level. It’s possible that to even have the space to venture into our identities to some extent, we’ve had to rebel and separate from the collective mindset to tune into the sound of ourselves.

Being balanced, being individualistically powerful but remaining open and in tune with the world around- but not too empathetic to where you lose your ability to distinguish what is your energy from the world’s- can be tricky.

This sense of learning to experience safety within aspects of the self that are categorized as being threatening to a system that demands mental comfort, predictability, and placement into something known comes from allowing

I believe that the self always craves freedom; evolving expression, self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-expansion. However, when the mind tries to grasp freedom, we become limited. We restrict ourselves, but with a thirst for freedom still seeking to be felt, we find ourselves portraying freedom in ways that dominate, dehumanize, and force a need to be expressive rather than simply allowing it.

The beautiful aspect of art is that it captures diversity by resonating differently with people, yet it evokes a universal connection with the power to ignite change. Through my main mediums of writing, movement, music, photography, and acting, I aspire to unite the safety in exploring individual expression without losing sight of the collective.

When it comes to my personal intention in the art and projects I currently have in the works, I aim to provide a sense of safety in what is created, while pushing limits and boundaries with the concepts explored. I believe in putting out projects that don’t perpetuate oppressive norms and power imbalances, but I don’t want to shy away from capturing the rawness, the immorality and mistakes of being human as well. I want to express the truthful facets of what it really means to be human, while holding an invitation to recognize the greater intention of a reflection that challenges us to go deeper inward to release into understanding who we are as truth.
